Description
It is an inorganic white compound derived from naturally occurring minerals with an assay of 98 to 103 % and has loss of 4% on drying. The chemical compound is formed by combining Calcium Oxide with Phosphoric Acid. The resulting substance dissolves easily in water. It’s Chemical Formula is Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O. With this mineral-sourced phosphate in their rations, the needs of high producing animals are covered, improving performance in growth, fertility and conversion indexes. Phosphorus is essential to, among other processes, ATP formation, nucleic acid synthesis and bone formation. Monocalcium phosphate is a food supplement for livestock and poultry diet to replenish calcium and phosphorus that contribute to the formation of strong bone tissue and skeleton, improve metabolism, functions of the nervous, immune and reproductive systems, increase productivity.
- MCP is auxiliary feed for aquatic animals, poultry, and livestock.
- Since most of the aquatic animals take in feed phosphate through rectum, it is necessary to give it soluble phosphate form.
- The biological availability of monocalcium phosphate is higher than other feed phosphate.
- It can promote feed digestion
- Put on animals’ weight
- Raise laying rate and milk production rate
- Cure diseases such as rickets, osteomalacia, etc.
Main benefits & Applications of Monocalcium Phosphate for animals
Some of the benefits of MCP for animals are :
- Improved bone health: MCP provides a source of phosphorus and calcium, which are important minerals for bone growth and development. Animals that receive adequate amounts of MCP in their diets are more likely to have strong, healthy bones.
- Increased milk production: Dairy cows require higher amounts of phosphorus and calcium in their diets to support milk production. Feeding MCP to dairy cows can help increase milk production and improve the quality of the milk.
- Better eggshell quality: Poultry require adequate amounts of calcium in their diets to support egg production and maintain eggshell quality. MCP is often added to poultry feed to provide a source of calcium and improve the strength and thickness of eggshells.
- Improved digestion: MCP can help improve digestion in animals by increasing the activity of digestive enzymes in the gut. This can lead to better nutrient absorption and improved overall health.
- Enhanced growth: MCP is often used in animal feed to promote growth and weight gain in young animals. This is particularly important for livestock production, where faster growth rates can lead to increased profitability.
Applications of MCP
Monocalcium phosphate is a substance which has a wide range of applications and commonly used in the production of food, animal feed and as a fertilizer. Various applications of MCP are :
- Product is used as an additive to animal feed.
- To stimulate growth in ruminants and other farm animals
- The product is highly digestible, especially by pigs and poultry because of its purity. It is also a common ingredient in feed premixes for calves and aquaculture.
- From birth to mating, milking and production, every stage of life demands additional nutrients to stimulate growth. But the fodder that animals are eating is not fulfilling their nutritional requirement. Hence the need for MCP.
- Monocalcium Phosphate is also found in dog food. Like humans, dogs need Calcium and Phosphorus to build their teeth and bones, grow and keep them strong. An excellent source of both elements is Monocalcium Phosphate, which is added to pet food.
